Mammuth are a band from Norway that plays a mixture of stoner and sludge metal and this is a review of their album "Outlander" which will be released in 2018 by Negative Vibe Records.
Drum beats along with some heavy riffing starts off t he album along with some vocals which use melodic singing along with some aggressive screams while elements of sludge and groove metal can also be heard in the bands musical style along with the riffs also bringing in a great amount of melody.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion while the riffs also mix in elements of thrash metal and stoner rock along with some of the tracks being very long and epic in length as well as a brief use of steel guitars which also gives the music more of a southern feeling and they also mix in a great amount of prog influences at times, when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can also be heard and as the album progresses clean and acoustic guitars can also be heard on a few tracks.
Mammuth plays a musical style that mixes stoner, sludge, groove, thrash and prog metal to create something very original, the production sound s very professional while the lyrics cover dark and metaphysical themes.
In my opinion Mammuth are a very great sounding mixture of prog, stoner and sludge metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Circling Vultures" "God Eater" "Ight Years" and "Space Ghost". 8 out of 10.
