Sonic Prophecy are a band from Salt Lake City, Utah that plays a symphonic mixture of heavy and power metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Apocalyptic Promenade" which was released by Maple Metal Records.
An operatic sound starts off the album along with some spoken word parts and you can also hear some medieval style sounds in the background which leads up to a more heavy and melodic musical direction and when vocals are added into the music they are clean singing power metal vocals and the band also mixes the symphonic and heavy part together.
A good portion of the tracks are long and epic in length and the solos and leads the band uses remain true to a very old school and traditional form of heavy/power metal and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and as the album progresses some of the songs start bringing in a decent amount of clean playing.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of both modern and old school power metal influences while 80's traditional metal is also another huge influence on the bands musical style and there are also a few tracks that are power ballads and one of the tracks has a shamanistic and tribal feeling while also remaining very heavy at the same time.and some of the songs also bring in a small amount of acoustic guitars and they also close the album with an acoustic track.
Sonic Prophecy plays a style of heavy and power metal that is very melodic and epic and also brings in symphonic elements at times and while the band is true to this style they still sound very modern, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover war, heaven and hell, quests and adventures.
In my opinion Sonic Prophecy are a very great sounding epic and symphonic mixture of heavy and power metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hell's Most Beautiful Angel" "Dark is The Dawn" "The Warrior's Heart" and "Apocalyptic Promenade". 8 out of 10.
